MADISON, NJ–The NJIT women's fencing team competed at the 2025 NIWFA Championships Saturday afternoon hosted by Drew University.
Senior Gala Krsmanovic led NJIT with a sixth-place finish in the women's epee competition and was named to the NIWFA All-Academic team, majoring in cyberpsychology.
Kaydine Gonzalez combined for a seventh place finish in the women's saber competition.
In addition to Krsmanovic, Megan Hillyer finished 14th in the women's epee competition.
In the women's foil competition, Stella Frias took 10th place and Elena Negron Fernandez finished in 12th place.
In team competition, the women's epee squad finished in the top 5 which consisted of Hillyer, Krsmanovic, Margaret Meschia and Randa Shalabi. Both the women's foil and women's sabre squad both finished in seventh place. The foil squad consisted of Sherlyn Arzola, Negron Fernandez and Frias while the sabre squad consisted of Gonzalez, Anastassia Volynska and Zoey Wen.
The NJIT women will be back in action on March 8 at the NCAA Fencing Mid-Atlantic/South Region Championship. The Regional will be hosted by Drew in Madison, NJ.
