Box Score Ft. Myers, FL - The NJIT women's volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss to host Florida Gulf Coast in ASUN Conference action at Allico Arena on Saturday, October 19.
FGCU took the match 25-7, 25-11, 25-15, to improve to 7-1 at the halfway point of the ASUN season and remain atop the conference standings.
The Eagles had control of the match from first serve, jumping out to leads of 7-1 and 11-2 in the opening set and never looking back en route to their eighth-straight victory.
FGCU attacked at .400 for the match and at least .318 in each set. The hosts also recorded 11 services aces in the three-set match.
Sarah Merritt's six kills paced NJIT on Saturday.
The Highlanders will return to the court on Wednesday when they make the short trip to Riverdale, NY, for their non-conference finale against Manhattan.
