NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to visiting Lipscomb in ASUN Conference action on Sunday at the Wellness and Events Center.
The Bisons came from behind to take the first set 25-22, before winning the second and third sets more comfortably, 25-12 and 25-13, respectively.
A pair of freshmen,
Courtney Branch and
Sarah Merritt, led the Highlanders offensively with seven kills each. NJIT hit .103 as a team, including a match-best .300 in the opening set.
Olivia Welsch led the Highlanders with 10 digs, while
Juliana Impaglia's 23 sets were a team-best. At the net,
Madi Busler and
Susan Blake each recorded three blocks to lead NJIT.
The Highlanders will be back on the court next weekend with a pair of ASUN contests in Florida. NJIT will take on Stetson on Friday at 6pm, before making the trip to Florida Gulf Coast for another 6pm start on Saturday.
