2018-19 NJIT Men's Basketball Schedule
NEWARK, NJ—NJIT men's basketball head coach
Brian Kennedy announced the Highlanders 31-game slate, including 14 home contests inside the Wellness and Events Center, first-ever meeting against top-25 University of Houston and an appearance in the inaugural Central New York Classic will highlight the 2018-19 schedule.
"I'm really excited about this year's schedule," third-year head coach Kennedy added. "Our non-conference includes teams from seven different leagues highlighted by a trip to Top 25 Houston and the Inaugural Central New York Classic. The ASUN Conference will be one of the top Mid Major Conferences in the country featuring returning league champions Lipscomb."
The Highlanders 15 non-conference matchups include four in the Central New York Classic, an exempt tournament that will feature Colgate, Binghamton, Cornell and Division III Kean University.
NJIT will open the 2018 season at home in NJIT's Wellness and Events Center, hosting Colgate, a 19-win team and College Basketball Invitational (CBI) participant a year ago on November 6.
Three days later, the Highlanders will travel to Vestal, New York and visit Binghamton on November 9.
NJIT will return home and host three straight games – Brown (Nov. 11), Division III Kean (Nov. 14) and Cornell (Nov. 17).
The Highlanders will begin a four-game road swing with trips to Wagner (Nov. 20), LIU Brooklyn (Nov. 24), Drexel (Nov. 28) and UMass Lowell (Dec. 1). Wagner won 23 games last season and appeared in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) while LIU Brooklyn, defending Northeast Conference Tournament Champions, reached 18 victories and earned the programs first NCAA Tournament bid in five years.
NJIT will host two games at home in the month of December against Army West Point (Dec. 4) and St. Francis Brooklyn (Dec. 8). The Highlanders and Black Knights last met in the first round of the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, with NJIT coming out on top, 79-65.
The Highlanders will close out the 2018 calendar year with a four-game road swing at Fordham (Dec. 11), Fairleigh Dickinson (Dec. 15), first-time opponent Houston from the American Athletic Conference and Duquesne (Dec. 31). Houston finished the 2017-18 season with a 27-8 overall mark, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and finished among the nation's top 25 in both national polls (No. 22

The ASUN Conference schedule opens the New Year, hosting Kennesaw State on January 5. The Highlanders will play their final 15 games in the ASUN.

The ASUN Conference Tournament begins on March 4 with the semifinals and championship scheduled for March 7 and 10, respectively. All games are played on the campuses of the highest seeds.
