WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – NJIT men's lacrosse fell 10-4 to host Monmouth on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.
Aaron Forster continued his point scoring streak to 26 games after posting a goal and an assist, while
Ryan Darrow also added a goal and an assist.
Kevin Falteisek and
Cole Robillard had NJIT's other two goals.
Defender
Luke Binder tied his career-high in ground balls with four and tallied a new career-high three caused turnovers.
Monmouth's top scorers were Griffin Figel and Bryce Wasserman who combined for seven of the Hawks 10 goals.
Monmouth was first to score but the Highlanders tied it up at 1-1 winning the second face-off and getting it up the field to long stick Falteisek who was wide open and fired a laser shot behind the keeper.
The Hawks would add on another three goals to take a 4-1 leading heading into the second quarter.
Monmouth was first to score in the second, but the Highlanders piled on two more goals from Forster and Darrow to diminish the Hawk lead, 5-3.
After Darrow's goal, the Hawks won the face-off and made quick transition to goal and NJIT goalie
Nick Marzullo made a big save to stop the Hawk momentum.
Figel scored the first three goals and Wasserman the last of the third quarter for the Hawks, extending their lead to 9-3.
Only two goals were scored in the fourth quarter, including a goal by Robillard who picked up a nice rebound from his previous shot that he buried into the back of the net for the final 10-4 score.
Earning the win was Noah Lode who registered 11 saves for the Hawks, and
Nick Marzullo made seven saves for the Highlanders.
The Highlanders host Hampton next Saturday, April 14 for a 4pm game celebrating senior day and their four seniors,
