JACKSONVILLE, FL—No. 25 Jacksonville recorded a 7-1 win over visiting NJIT in game two of the three game series Saturday evening at John Sessions Stadium in ASUN Conference action.
Jacksonville (30-13, 8-3 ASUN) starter Tyler Santana improved to 8-1 on the season, holding the Highlanders scoreless over the first 8.0 innings, allowing just two hits. Reliever Greg Shannahan pitched the final inning letting up one run and one hit in the 7-1 victory.
Jacksonville C Jacob Southern finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored while four different players – 2B Chris Lehane (1-for-2; one RBI and one run), SS Scott Subrule (2-for-5; one RBI and one run), 1B Angel Camacho (1-for-2; one RBI and one run) and DH John Cassala (1-for-4; one RBI).
NJIT (17-18, 4-10 ASUN) starting pitcher
Tyler Stafflinger took the loss, falling to an even 4-4 on the season, pitching the first 2.0 innings, letting up two hits and two runs.
Highlander reliever
John Saviano held the Dolphins scoreless in the seventh while
James Sofield held Jacksonville scoreless in the eighth in relief for the visitors.

David Marcano drove in the lone run for the Highlanders in the top of the ninth with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Michael Anastasia (1-for-4) and 3B Marcano (1-for-3) each notched a hit Saturday.
Jacksonville started the scoring in the bottom of the second, pushing two runs across, on an RBI single by Scott Dubrule followed by a bases loaded RBI single to single to short stop by Jacob Southern for a 2-0 lead.
The Dolphins plated a single run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single up the middle by John Cassala, pushing Jacksonville's advantage to 3-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Southern hit a home run to left field, extending the Dolphins lead to 4-0.
The home team added two runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh, for a 7-0 advantage.
NJIT scored its lone run in the top of the ninth, after a double by
Michael Anastasia, who advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by
David Marcano.
The two teams will conclude its three game series on Sunday at 12pm.
