KENNESAW GA--NJIT's Holly Matson and Amanda Helminsky registered a win for the visiting Highlanders in singles action as Kennesaw State recorded its first ASUN Conference win of the season with a 5-2 decision Thursday afternoon at Betty Siegel Courts.

NJIT (1-4 ASUN, 8-10 overall) won at first doubles and third and fifth singles but the Owls (1-4 ASUN, 2-14) combined for the win, earning wins at second and third doubles to earn the point and taking wins at first, second, fourth and sixth singles.

Matson and teammate Rafaella Sampaio notched a 6-3 win at first doubles, topping Laura Hopton and Kennedy Craig.

Matson battled out a three-set tilt at third singles, defeating Hopton, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.

Helminsky won by identical scores at the fifth spot, 6-2, 6-2, over Aspen Jarrett.

NJIT will conclude the regular season on Friday at 11am when the Highlanders visit Lipscomb in Nashville, Tennessee.
