Men’s Tennis Opens up ASUN Play with a 6-1 Win Over USC Upstate

– NJIT men's tennis won their opening ASUN match with a 6-1 win over USC Upstate at the Naimoli Tennis Center on Saturday morning.

"Great start to our conference schedule", said head coach Ira Miller about the match. "Doubles was tight but we pulled out the point and rode the momentum into some of our best singles play of the year."

NJIT grabbed wins a the second and third spot to earn the doubles point.

Richard Rangga and Lukas Zvikas and Tomi Antoljak and Zac Castagna grabbed the other two wins in doubles.

In singles play, the Highlanders went 5-1.

Tomi Antoljak defeated Felix Ewers in first singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

Jan Cimrman won against Francico Neto 6-7(5), 6-4, 10-6 in second singles and Lukas Zvikas won in third singles won against Fernando Bernardes 6-3, 6-4.

The last two Highlander wins came from Abdullah Fouad and Zac Castagna, with Fouad defeating Ankush Arora 6-1, 6-2 and Castagna Ignacio Garrido 6-1, 3-6, 10-5.

NJIT continues ASUN play, hosting North Florida on March 29 for a 6pm match.
