STATEN ISLAND, NY – NJIT men's lacrosse fell 7-5 in a Saturday night battle to host Wagner on Saturday.
Aaron Forster continued his point scoring streak and scored a game-high three goals, while
Ryan Kaden and
Cole Robillard also added goals.
Max Wilson and
Ryan Darrow produced assists for the Highlanders.
The Highlanders won all but one face-off going 14-for-15 from the circle thanks to
Adam Gonzalez, which is a new a career-high for him.
John Tachon helped on the face-offs grabbing a personal-best 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
NJIT also held the edge in shots 35-26 and ground balls 29-14.
Wagner received goals from six players, with John Norton leading the pack with two goals and an assist.
The Highlanders went up 2-0 in the first nine minutes with two goals by Forster.
Andrew Streilein scored for the Seahawks to put them within one, and the score stayed the same going into the second quarter.
Wagner scored four unanswered goals in the second to take a 5-3 lead going into halftime.
Norton scored the first goal in the third, but Forster and Robillard added goals in the third to put the Highlanders within two, 6-4 heading into the final quarter.
Kaden scored in the first two minutes of the fourth, but former Highlander Joe Lomeli added another goal to solidify the final 7-5 score.
Nick Marzullo made nine saves in the loss, while Matt Sefcik recorded 11 saves in his fourth win of the season.
The Highlanders host Manhattan for their first home game since February 24
th on Saturday March 31 at 4pm.
