Track and Field Competes at Fast Track Last Chance Meet

STATEN ISLAND, NY – NJIT men's and women's track competed at the Fast Track Last Chance Meet on Saturday held at the Ocean Breeze Complex.

The Highlanders finished 1-2 in men's 60-meter dash with Kwaku Amponsah coming in at 7.01 and Daniel Leung right behind him at 7.02.

Leung also grabbed a ninth place finish in the 200 meter dash clocking in at 22.61.

Amponsah placed fifth in the long jump followed by Nasiem Chandler who came in sixth.

In the 1 mile run Ryan Budhu placed eighth clocking in at 4:20.12, while Michael Russell finished in 4:32.43.

Sydne Nance came in fifth in the 400 meter dash coming in at 59.31.

Four Highlander women competed in the 800 meter run with Allison Regan leading the pack coming in at 2:31.47 followed by Emily Florian (2:35.26), Michelle Ling (2:37.34) and Emily Shibata (2:42.70).

In the 1000 meter run Cassandra Raia placed sixth with a time of 3:11.86.

Freshman Miku Okada came in fifth in the high jump notching a score of 1.50m.

Calvin Gould came in fourth in the pole vault getting a score of 4.40m and Brandon Kong grabbed ninth getting a 4.10m.

Next up for the Highlanders is the ECAC/IC4A Championships March 2-4 in Boston, MA.
