NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team registered its second straight win of the season with a convincing, 5-2, victory over visiting Drexel Saturday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
The Highlanders (2-0) won five singles contests in straight sets to secure the win while Drexel (3-3) picked up the doubles point and point at first singles.
"Another dominant singles performance," head coach
Ira Miller commented. "Credit to the team for seizing momentum early and taking two through five singles in straight sets.
NJIT duo
Tomi Antoljak and
Aleksa Petrovic notched a 7-6 (2) win at first doubles.
Senior
Jan Cimrman posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the second spot, over Hamza Laalej.
Lukas Zvikas earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at third singles, topping Sinan Orhon.
Newcomer Abdullah Osman won by identical scores at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-3, defeating Sanil Jagtiani.
Co-captain
Zac Castagna recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the fifth spot, topping Youseef Lahlou.
Senior
Richard Rangga registered a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the sixth spot over Xandy Hammitt.
NJIT will return to action and host Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday at 1pm.
