BROOKLYN, NY--The NJIT women's fencing team posted a 4-2 record at the LIU Invitational on Sunday led by freshman
Marina Arrese's 16-1 mark on the epee strip.
The Highlanders picked up wins over Hunter (20-1), Yeshiva (17-7), Wagner (18-9) and host LIU Brooklyn (15-10).
Arrese, who combined for a 16-1 mark on the day went 3-0 against Hunter, Drew, Wagner and Wellesley. Senior
Maria Sztan recorded 12 wins on the epee strip.
In women's foil action,
Cristina Garcia Mendicino and
Annalena Shigihara notched 15-3 marks while
Paloma Almodovar went undefeated at 12-0.
Sophomore
Amanda Soliman recorded an 11-3 mark in women's saber.
NJIT will return to action on November 16 when the Highlanders compete at the Columbia Invitational at 5pm.
