JACKSONVILLE, FL—North Florida (13-7, 4-0 ASUN) swept visiting NJIT (6-11, 3-2 ASUN), 7-0, in ASUN Conference play, Saturday morning at the UNF Tennis Complex.
The Highlanders were unable to gain any momentum in the doubles competition, as North Florida took the doubles point, by winning matches at first and third doubles, by identical scores, 6-1.
In the singles competition, newcomer
Mayar Eltony fought hard against Michelle Valdez of North Florida, but ultimately fell in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5 at first singles.
Junior transfer
Natacha Minc also fell in a hard-fought, straight-set defeat to North Florida's Irina Karangozishvili, 6-1, 7-5, at third singles.
NJIT will return to the court on Friday, April 14, when the Highlanders travel to Clinton, SC, to take on Presbyterian, in a non-conference matchup. The match will begin at 10 am.
