NEWARK, NJ—Lipscomb swept the weekend series from NJIT with an 8-3 win in game three to conclude the ASUN Conference series Sunday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium.
The Bisons (20-17, 6-6 ASUN) scored a single run in the first, plated four in the second and combined for three runs in the eighth and nine innings to secure the win. NJIT (4-31, 0-12 ASUN) scored single runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
RHP Brady Pucket (5-4) recorded his fifth win of the season for Lipscomb. The 2016 ASUN Pitcher of the Year, went 6.1 innings, allowing nine hits, three runs while striking out four batters. Relief pitcher Denton Norman recorded his fourth save of the season, pitching the final 2.2 innings for the visiting Bisons.
Lipscomb C Jeffrey Crisan put together a strong game, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Crisan blasted two, two-run homers in the game and added a single. RF Lee Solomon went 3-for-5 with a double and a pair of singles while 3B Zeke Dodson and 1B Cade Sorrells each finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
NJIT's losing pitcher was credited to
Chris Gibbons (0-2), pitching 1.1 innings. RHP
Brett Lubreski, the second pitcher for the Highlanders, pitched 6.0 innings, surrendering seven hits and holding the Bisons to just two runs.
Bryan Haberstroh pitched the final 1.2 innings for NJIT.

Jesse Uttendorfer drove in a run each, going 1-for-4.
Lipscomb's Dodson drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring CF Michael Gigliotti, who reached first on a walk to leadoff the game as the Bisons took a 1-0 lead.
NJIT's Etts put down a bunt single down the third base line, driving in Cocciadiferro for the Highlanders first run, knotting the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Cocciadiferro, the Highlanders first baserunner of the game, reached on a deep single to shortstop.
The Bisons added four runs in the top of the second on a two-run homer to left field by Crisan, his first of the season. Dodson followed with an RBI single and Sorrells with a bases loaded RBI double pushing the Bisons lead to 5-1.
The Highlanders got back on the board in the fifth inning, plating one run on a RBI single to right field by Uttendorfer, scoring Cocciadiferro, who reached on a throwing error by the Bisons third baseman.
NJIT added a run in the seventh with runners on the corners, as Etts attempted to steal second and in the process Anastasia, who was at third scored advanced home prior to Etts being caught in a rundown, bringing the Highlanders within two, 5-3.
Lipscomb's Crisan knocked out his second home run of the game in the eighth, a two-run blast to left field and Sorrells hit an RBI single to center field, pushing the visitors lead to 8-3.
NJIT will return to action next weekend when the Highlanders host Florida Gulf Coast for a three-game ASUN Conference series, beginning on Friday at 6pm. Saturday's game will begin at 1pm and the series will wrap up on Sunday at 11am.
