WEST POINT, NY—The NJIT women's tennis team (5-8) dropped a 6-1 non-conference match to Army Tuesday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Highlander duo Nathalie Habegger and Alba Rosas Garcia earned a doubles victory, defeating Army's Kirby Einck and Gloria Son, by a score of 6-3 at first doubles.
Army, however, would go on to take the next two doubles matches, securing the doubles point.
In the singles competition, Nathalie Habegger continued her fine play on the afternoon, defeating Genevieve McCormick of Army in straight-sets, 6-2, 7-5, at third singles.
Highlander freshman Mayar Eltony fought hard in her match at first singles, but was unable to secure the victory, as Army's Melanie Allen defeated Eltony in three-sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
NJIT, who sits in first in the ASUN Conference with a 2-0 mark, will return home Saturday, April 1, when the Highlanders welcome Florida Gulf Coast to the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The match will begin at 10 am.
