HARRISONBURG, VA—James Madison won its fourth consecutive game, topping visiting NJIT, 20-6, Friday afternoon at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.
JMU, winners of the last six out of seven games, improving to 12-3 on the season while the Highlanders fall to 2-12 on the season.
NJIT started off the scoring with three runs in the top of the first and held a 4-1 lead, heading into the bottom of the second.  JMU scored two in the second and three in the third, taking a 6-5 lead and the Dukes added four in the sixth and seven in the bottom of the eighth, cruising to a 20-6 victory.
JMU RHP Brandon Wither moved to 4-0 on the season, pitching the first 6.0 innings, letting up eight hits, five runs (four earned) while striking out five Highlanders.  RHP Christian Bourne pitched the final 3.0 innings, holding the Highlanders to only one run and letting up three hits.
NJIT used four pitchers Friday and the Highlanders second pitcher, 
John Saviano (0-4) was credited with the loss, pitching one inning, letting up three runs (all earned) and striking out three Dukes.
The Dukes recorded 19 hits led by SS Kyle McPherson, who finished 3-for-5 for with RBI and RF Adam Sisk went 2-for-5 with five RBI and three runs.  1B Brett Johnson finished 2-for-5 with RBI and PH Ryan Lynch went 1-for-1 with RBI.
The Highlanders SS 
Justin Etts drove in two of NJIT's six runs Friday, going 2-for-5 while CF 
Jesse Uttendorfer and LF 
Evan Pietronico also finished 2-for-5.  Senior 3B 
Bryan Haberstroh went 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run.
Eight Highlanders stepped up to the plate in the top of the first, as the visitors jumped out to a 3-0 advantage.  NJIT's CF 
Jesse Uttendorfer got the Highlanders going early, leading off the game with a triple to left center.  SS 
Justin Etts drove in the first run of the game on an RBI groundout to short, scoring Uttendorfer, taking a 1-0 lead.
With runners at first and second for the Highlanders, DH 
Johnny Malatesta doubled down the right field line, scoring 
Evan Pietronico, who reached first on a single to centerfield, giving the Highlanders a 2-0 lead.
Senior 
Bryan Haberstroh sent home the Highlanders third run of the inning with a single through the left side, scoring 
Matthew Cocciadiferro, who reached first on an error for James Madison.
James Madison's Adam Sisk drove in the Dukes first run of the game in the bottom of the first on a RBI groundout to third.
NJIT's Uttendorfer and Etts got things going for the Highlanders in the top of the second, as the pair hit back-to-back doubles.   Etts drove in his second run of the game with a double down the right field line, pushing the Highlander lead to, 4-1.
The Highlanders added one run in the top of the third on an RBI double to right center, driving in Haberstroh and one in the top of the ninth on an RBI single through the left side by freshman pinch hitter 
Alex Burman, scoring Etts, who reached first on a single to third base.
The two teams will return to action on Saturday when the Highlanders take on the Dukes in a 1pm doubleheader.
