Seton Hall Upends NJIT 3-1

NEWARK, NJ – In the first Colonial States College Hockey Conference game of the season, the NJIT men's ice hockey game were not able to get much going offensively in a penalty-filled game, losing 3-1 to Seton Hall.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak vs. Seton Hall and the first home loss on the young season.

The Pirates scored the only goal in the 1st period on the power play to grab a 1-0 lead after one period of play. Seton Hall extended their lead to a two-goal advantage early in the 2nd period.

But, the Highlanders were able to strike back quickly as Kyle Hilliard playing against his former team, was get a tip of a Will Hoer slapshot that deflected off a maze of players, cutting their deficit to one.

Unfortunately, Seton Hall was able to regain their two-goal lead a few minutes later in the period and lead 3-1 after the 2nd intermission.

The final score remained as it did after the 2nd period, 3-1. Martin Paro made 29 saves in his 1st full game of action.

The Highlanders next game is tonight at the RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House against West Chester Golden Rams at 8:30 pm.
