Neema Liverpool scored the lone goal in NJIT's 1-0 win over Delaware State and senior goalkeeper
Amelia Sapirman registered her fourth shutout of the season on Senior Day at Kean University East Campus Facility Wednesday afternoon.
NJIT moves to an even 8-8 on the season, which ties the NJIT program wins output record, accomplished in 2005 and 2013.
The Highlanders conclude the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 7-3 mark and 5-2 at home. NJIT will wrap up the 2017 season on Saturday at 1pm, hosting ASUN Conference opponent USC Upstate at Kean University East Campus Facility.
The home team got on the board in the 41
st minute on a goal by
Neema Liverpool, her first of the season assisted by
Nicole Baldassini. Baldassini carried the ball down the left side of the field into the box, crossing behind the Delaware State defense to Liverpool, who chipped in the goal.
The Highlanders picked up where they left off in the second half with a free kick in the 49
th minute by sophomore
Briana Hackos, just above the penalty box, but Hackos shot sailed over the crossbar.
In the 62
nd minute, Baldassini nearly doubled the Highlander score on a header, which hit the left post.
Sapirman registered her fourth clean sheet of the season, combining for two saves. Delaware State's Leslie Fazio recorded two saves.

Amelia Sapirman and graduate students

Carly Berdan.
This season, Sapirman has appeared in 13 matches, combining for seven wins, four shutouts and 51 saves, including a .773 save percentage. Sapirman will graduate with a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.
Berdan, enrolled in NJIT's Masters of Science and Biology program, has combined for nine career goals, which ranks third in the NJIT Division I era and tied for second in career points with 23.
David, enrolled in NJIT's Masters of Engineering Management program, ranks third in the Division I era with 204 saves.
