College Court Report Official Release

With the basketball season in mind, NJIT's record setting senior men's basketball star Damon Lynn has been selected to the College Court Report Top 100 Players in College Basketball for the 2016-17 season.

The 100 players are the top returning, players from across the country, which were evaluated on two fronts: overall role on their respective team, and their statistical performances over their collegiate career.

Lynn, who was named a tri-captain for the 2016-17 season in early July, has helped pilot the Highlanders to their first back-to-back 20-win seasons as a Division I program and for the first time since the D III Highlanders accomplished the feat in 1993-94 and 1994-95.

He became the first Highlander ever honored on the Division I All-Met first or second team when he took home second-team honors in 2015-16.

A first-team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection last season, Lynn shattered his own NJIT single-season scoring record with 642 points and his average of 18.3 points per game also represented a new program high and ranked fifth in the nation's highest scoring conference.

In addition to his first-team All-ASUN and All-Met honors, Lynn was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 3 second team. He was also chosen as one of 31 players on the Lou Henson All-America team, comprised of players from "mid-major" programs, as selected by the website CollegeInsider.com.

The Hillside, NJ, native finished ranked first in the ASUN and fifth in Division I in three-point field goals made (116), second in the conference and 34th in the nation in total points (642) and 73rd in the country in points per game.

Lynn reached his season scoring high in NJIT's historic win at St. John's on December 20, 2015, as he netted 32 points in the first-ever win for the Highlanders over a team from the BIG EAST Conference. He scored 31 in the opening-round victory over Boston University of the CIT and he also scored 30 in an ASUN regular season win over Stetson.

In addition to three 30-point games, Lynn reached the 20-point mark in 12 games and scored in double-figures in 33 of 35 games. His season assists high was 8 in a win vs. UMass Lowell and he pulled down a season and career-high 10 rebounds at Stetson, which, coupled with 15 points gave him his first career double-double.

For his career, Lynn has moved into sixth place on NJIT's all-time scoring list with 1,720 points and is just four tallies away from tying the Highlanders' Division-I career record of 1,724, held by Chris Flores '13.

No player in the nation has sunk more treys since Lynn's freshman season (346) and he ranks first among active D-I career leaders in three-pointers per game (3.6), second in total three-pointers and 17th in scoring average (17.7).

He's the only Highlander to ever score at least 500 points in three consecutive seasons -- a total no one else had accomplished in back-to-back seasons.
