MACON, GA—The fifth edition of the ASUN Conference Most Valuable Mascot Challenge is set to begin on Monday, July 18th-21st as the league's eight mascots will vie for the crown. The NJIT Highlander earned the victory last year and looks to hold off the competition once again in 2016. 

Over a four-day period, the league's mascots will compete on different social media platforms for the most votes from their fan base. Fans will have the ability to vote for their favorite mascot on three different social media platforms in 2016. This year's Challenge is setup as a single-elimination bracket with all eight teams seeded based on last year's results.

2016 Mascot Bracket Seeds:
1) NJIT - Highlander
2) FGCU - Azul the Eagle
3) North Florida - Ozzie the Osprey
4) Kennesaw State - Scrappy the Owl
5) Stetson - John B. Stetson
6) Jacksonville - Dunk'n the Dolphin
7) Lipscomb - LU Bison
8) USC Upstate - Sparty the Spartan

The opening round takes place on Monday and Tuesday with the winners advancing to Wednesday's semifinal round. The final two mascots will square off on Thursday, July 21 in the finale to crown the 2016 Most Valuable Mascot in the ASUN.
