Box ScoreNEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's tennis team returned to the win column with a convincing 5-2 victory over visiting Colgate Saturday afternoon at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
NJIT (4-7) snapped a six-match skid with the win. The Highlanders earned the doubles point and won four of six singles contests. Colgate now stands at an even 5-5 on the season.

Ira Miller commented. "Once we took the doubles point we kept the momentum through the singles. Great job by Ines (Vujkovac) and Amanda (Helminsky) to close out their singles to help clinch the match."
Highlander pair
Nathalie Habegger and
Alba Rosas Garcia were 6-3 winners at first doubles, topping Lauren Hyland and Jennifer Ho.
NJIT freshmen duo
Rafaella Sampaio and
Amanda Helminsky teamed for a 6-3 victory at second doubles, defeating Katie Grant and Kaelin Brittin.
Sophomore Rosas Garcia got things going for the Highlanders in singles competition, recording a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fourth spot over Brittin.
Habegger followed up at second singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Colgate's Ho.
Sophomore
Ines Vujkovac went the distance at the third spot against Grant, taking the first frame, 6-3 but dropping the second set, 6-3, to even the match at 1-1. Vujkovac won 6-3 to earn the victory.
Helminsky was a straight set winner at the sixth spot with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hannah Fleckenstein.
