WEST ORANGE, NJ – The NJIT men's ice hockey team posted a 4-1 win over Seton Hall Saturday at South Mountain Arena.
Coming off a tough loss against Monmouth on October 30, the Highlanders (7-5-1) picked up another win against a Colonial States Collegiate Hockey League opponent.
NJIT outshot the Pirates 58-45, dominating play for most of the game.
Getting the scoring starting in the first period was
Alex Fleischmann who converted a pass from
Michael Crincoli giving the Highlanders the lead. The lead was short lived when Seton Hall tied it up making the score 1-1 going into the second.
David Ferrero scored the game-winner in the second period off a feed from
Will Hoer.
In the third, Crincoli added a goal of his own to increase the NJIT lead, 3-1.
Freshman defenseman
James Lyle scored the Highlanders final goal into an empty net to seal the win for the Highlanders and fellow freshman goalie
Martin Paro. Paro finished the game with 44 saves.
Next up, CSCHL opponent TCNJ will host NJIT on November 12 for a 6pm game at Loucke.
