SMITHFIELD, RI – The NJIT men's swimming and diving team fell 170-92 to Bryant at the Chase Athletic Center pool on Sunday.
The loss snapped the Highlanders (4-2) four-meet win streak which started on October 15.
Matheus Monteiro Montarroyos and
Edward Parks were the only two NJIT swimmers to grab first place finishes during the meet.
Junior Montarroyos placed first in the 1000 free coming in at 10:02.04 and the 500 free swimming in 4:50.63.
Also notching two wins was sophomore Parks who swam the 100 fly in 53.21 and the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.01.
Scott Quirie picked up a few good swims of his own. The junior placed second in the 100 back (54.29), 200 back (2:00.22), and the 200 IM (2:01.36).
Other notable swimmers for the Highlanders were freshmen
Haydn Pak and
Justin Sherrill.
Pak was part of the 400 free relay team that came in second with Parks, Montarroyos and
Jack Matusiak, and placed second in the 200 free and third in the 200 IM.
Sherrill finished second in the 100 breast and third in the 200 breast, and came in third in the 200 medley relay with Quirie,
Brandon Lachapel and Matusiak.
The Highlanders have off the rest of November, and will next compete at the ECAC Winter Championships in East Meadow, NY December 2-4.
