HILLSIDE, NJ—Junior Katy Mixon scored a pair of goals for visiting North Florida in a 3-1 ASUN Conference women's soccer win over NJIT Friday afternoon on the campus of Kean University's East Campus Facility.
The win for the North Florida is the first of the season in league play, as the Ospreys improve to 1-3 ASUN and 5-6-2 overall, while the Highlanders, who registered their first-ever ASUN Conference win at USC Upstate on September 24, has dropped its previous three matches, falling to 1-3 in the conference and 5-7-2 overall.
The Ospreys got on the board in the 37
th minute on a goal by Mixon, her first goal of the day and second of the season, off a cross from Brandi Walker, finishing in the top left corner off for a 1-0 lead.
In the closing minutes of the first half, NJIT's 
Melanie Zrno converted a penalty kick with just 1:13 left on the game clock, knotting the score at 1-1.  The goal for Zrno is the fifth of the season and is now tied with teammate 
Neema Liverpool and 
Kori Washington ('12) for the NJIT Division I record for goals in the season.
North Florida broke the 1-1 tie and went ahead in the 76
th minute on a header by Kelli Crowley off a corner kick from Wasser.  The goal for Crowley was the second of the season.
Mixon netted her second goal of the match six minutes later, on a low crossed ball on the goal line that was tapped in by Mixon, giving the Ospreys a 3-1 advantage.
North Florida's Victoria Ekeli stopped three Highlander shots to earn the victory while Highlander goalkeeper 
Amelia Sapirman, making her second start of the season, recorded one save.
NJIT will return to action on Sunday at 12Noon when the Highlanders host Jacksonville on the campus of Kean University's East Campus Facility.
