NEWARK, NJ – NJIT men's swimming and diving tallied their first two wins in 2016 defeating VMI 109-94 and Saint Peter's 142-59 at the Fleisher Athletic Center on Saturday.
The Highlanders captured first place in both of the day's relay races.
In the 400 medley relay,
Scott Quirie,
Alex Danielson,
Edward Parks and
Haydn Pak posted a come behind victory, swimming in 3:20.01.
In the 200 free relay NJIT finished in 1:29.60 with the help of
Matheus Monteiro Montarroyos,
Jack Matusiak,
Tyler Pollock and
Michael Sungurov.
Junior Montarroyos tallied two more first place finishes in the 1000 free (9:58.63) and the 500 free (4:49.44).
During the 200 free freshman Pak placed first in a come from behind win finishing in 1:48.57 while senior Sungurov came in third with a time of 1:50. 52.
Collecting another first place finish for himself was junior Quirie who swam the 200 IM in 2:00.61.
Leading the field in the 100 fly was sophomore Parks coming in at a first place time of 53.48, and teammate Pak placed third in the race with a time of 55.98.
Freshman
Justin Sherrill swam the 100 breast in 1:04.43 good enough for second place.
The Highlanders will take a three week break from competition, and return in a tri-meet with St. Francis Brooklyn and Manhattan on November 5, hosted by Manhattan at 2pm.
