BOSTON—NJIT senior
Carolina Zanotta was named to the 2015 America East Conference All-Academic team, the league office announced Friday afternoon.
Zanotta, from Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil, was one of six players selected to the team.
A first-team all-conference singles honoree, Zanotta closed out her career with a 52-48 mark in singles competition.
In her first season at NJIT, Zanotta was a member of the 2012 team that captured its second consecutive Great West Conference title. She was named Great West Conference Newcomer of the Year and selected to the all-GWC second team, compiling a 24-6 overall record.
This season, Zanotta won the Flight A singles back draw title at the 2015 NJIT Women's Tennis Invitational on January 25.
At the annual NJIT Athletics Banquet, held on Tuesday, May 5, Zanotta took home three awards – Highlander Academic Award (senior w/ highest GPA on team), Women's Tennis Outstanding Performer and Chi Alpha Sigma certificate and pin (recognizes college students who receive a varsity letter in their sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and/or senior years).
A four-year member of the NJIT women's tennis program, Zanotta will graduate from NJIT on May 19 with an industrial engineering degree.
