CHARLOTTE—The NJIT women's tennis team opened its spring break trip at UNC Charlotte Tuesday evening.  The 49ers blanked the visiting Highlanders, 7-0, at Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

The 49ers, who dropped their last two contests, got back into the win column Tuesday to improve to 5-6 on the season.

UNC Charlotte claimed an early 1-0 edge following wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles with the No. 1 contest left unfinished after the point was clinched.

Each of the six singles matches were decided in straight sets.

NJIT will return to action on Wednesday at 2pm when the Highlanders visit UNC Asheville.
