Men’s Tennis Wins Fourth Straight; Tops Drexel 4-2

PHILADELPHIA—The NJIT men's tennis team won its fourth straight match with a 4-2 victory at Drexel Saturday evening at RiverWinds Golf and Tennis Center.

The Highlanders (8-4) won four of six singles contests to earn the 4-2 victory, while Drexel dropped to 10-6 on the season.

"Another exciting match!" head coach Ira Miller commented. "Junior Carl 'Jedi' Jedlinski came off the bench and helped the team close out the victory at sixth singles."'

NJIT junior Markus Schultz picked up a three-set victory at first singles, topping Badr Ouabdelmoumen 6-4, 6-7 (2), 10-4.

Classmate Andres Alban won by identical scores at the second spot, 6-1, 6-1, defeating Drexel's Kashyap Ashok.

NJIT's Jan Cimrman combined for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory at fourth singles against Xabier Saavedra, while Jedlinski won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 at the sixth spot, defeating Dan Koehler.

NJIT will travel to the Carolinas for spring break and face UNC Charlotte on March 17 and Presbyterian on March 18.
