AKRON, OH—Liberty won its third straight match of the season blanking NJIT, 7-0, in women's tennis action Saturday in the LaTuchie Tennis Center.
Liberty (5-1) on the season swept the doubles contests and won the six singles contests in straight sets.
Lady Flame duo Belen Rivera and Mariely Hassey defeated Highlander pair
Sydney Nowak and
Valerie Carroll, 6-0, to begin doubles competition from third doubles.
Liberty's Valerie Thong and Evangeline Crist secured the doubles point with a 6-1 decision over NJIT's
Ines Vujkovac and
Alba Rosas Garcia from the second slot.
Lady Flame doubles tandem Maria Khval and Brittany Yang finished off the doubles contests with a 6-2 victory against
Carolina Zanotta and
Nathalie Habegger at first doubles.
Zanotta, competing at first singles, dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Liberty's Hassey.
Liberty's Yang recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the second spot topping Habegger while Rosas Garcia dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at the third spot.
NJIT's Vujkovac fell 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles while Nowak dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at fifth singles. Carroll lost by identical scores at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-1 against Liberty's Thong.
