NEWARK, NJ - Christopher Murphy had a hand in all 5 goals to lead the NJIT Highlanders to a 5-2 victory over Stevens on Friday.
Murphy scored at 5:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 and again while short-handed 11:23 into the first to make the score 2-0. He also tallied an assist on each of the other 3 goals as well.
Other scorers for NJIT included
Matthew Lepinski, with one goal and two assists, as well as
David Ferrero and
Michael Crincoli, who scored one goal each. More assists came via
Matt Potter,
Yllano Tubilleja, and
Larissa Beer, who made her debut as the first woman to ever lace up the skates for the Highlanders.
Michael Ferris, and Gregory Caminneci scored for the Ducks as Andrew MacInnes and Anthony Bruce, each chipped in with an assist.
Thomas Pyrka recorded 21 saves for the Highlanders and Evan Senkewicz made 29 saves for Stevens.
