NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's swimming and diving team fell 170.5-125.5 to visiting Bryant in the Highlanders first home meet of the 2015 season.
Freshman
Edward Parks put together a strong performance in front of the home crowd, picking up a first-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.33. Parks, from Vineland, NJ, followed up with two second-place finishes in the 100 free (48.81) and 100 fly (53.27)
Senior
Brian Capozzola finished first in the 50 free (21.58) and 100 free (48.30) picking up nine points for the Highlanders in each race.
Sophomore
Collin Moore picked up two first-place finishes in the 200 free at 1:46.18 and 100 fly with a time of 52.52.
In the 1000 yard free, senior
Richard Seffrin came in first place with a time of 10:08.36.
NJIT took first in the 200 free relay, which consisted of Parks, sophomore
Maxim Tillman, junior
Michael Sungurov and Capozzola finishing with a time of 1:27.90.
Head Coach Mike Lawson had this to say about his team: "Today I really saw heart for the first time this season in our team. It was a close meet and our swimmers performed really well."
The Highlanders will head to Bethlehem, PA to take on host Lehigh and Colgate in a tri-meet on October 31.
