WEST POINT, NY—The NJIT women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at Army Friday evening in Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The Highlanders won two out of three doubles contests to earn the doubles point but Army, which improved to 11-1 on the season, won five out of six singles contests, cruising to a 5-2 victory. NJIT drops to 2-4 on the season.
In doubles competition, senior duo
Ksenia Kuzmenko and
Jana Luste were 8-6 winners over Army's doubles pair Elle and Della Taylor. Kuzmenko, the only double-winner on the day for the Highlanders won a three-set tilt at first singles over Black Knights Jamila Paul, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6.
Highlander pair
Nathalie Habegger and
Hannelore MacDonald won 8-5 at third doubles defeating Black Knights doubles pair Margaret Lliev and Carly Riney.
NJIT will return to action on Saturday at 5:30pm when the Highlanders visit Hofstra.
