NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's tennis team improved to 6-1 on the season, blanking visiting La Salle 7-0 at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility Friday evening.
 
Highlander duo Holger Norregaard and Markus Schultz got things going at second doubles, defeating De'Sean Fennell and Dale Fetterman, 8-1.  Schultz won in straight sets at first singles over Fennell, 7-5, 6-1 while Norregaard followed up with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles for the Highlanders.
 
Sophomore pair Andres Alban and Erik Artursson teamed for an 8-1 victory at first doubles topping La Salle's Chas Berenato and Brian Balico.  Alban won in straight sets at third singles recording a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Fetterman while Artursson at the fourth spot, was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Brian Balinco.
 
Newcomers Carl Jedlinski and Arnaud Holl won by identical scores at the fifth and sixth singles spot, 6-0, 6-1.
 
NJIT will return to action on Sunday at 2pm when the Highlanders visit NYIT in Bethpage, New York at Sportime Bethpage Tennis.
