BALTIMORE – The NJIT's men's swimming and diving team opened its 2014-15 season on Saturday in the first day of the CCSA North Invitational hosted by UMBC.
The meet involved programs, including NJIT, who compete in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA). Last season was the first for NJIT in the all-Division I CCSA, which picks its champions in a season-ending meet, which this season will be contested at the University of Georgia.
In-season scheduling for the CCSA is optional and this year the North Invitational was held as an early-season event. Aside from NJIT and host UMBC, squads at the North Invitational are Gardner Webb and VMI.
Two other men's swimming and diving teams in the CCSA did not participate. One, Howard, is on the NJIT schedule for a home meet on January 31, 2015, and the second, Incarnate Word from San Antonio, TX, has its only CCSA competition in the season-ending championship meet.
