Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Saint Joseph’s, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA—The NJIT women's tennis team won its second consecutive 6-1 victory at St. Joseph's Sunday afternoon at the SJU Tennis Complex.
 
The Highlanders, 11-6 overall, swept the doubles contests and won five out of six singles contests.  The lone point for the Hawks came at second singles.
 
Highlanders' duo of Ksenia Kuzmenko and Hannelore MacDonald defeated Casey Robinson and Aurora Davis at first doubles, 8-3.  Kuzmenko won in straight sets at first singles, 7-5, 6-2.
 
NJIT's Natalia Melibeu and Monika Graff were 8-2 winners at second doubles while Megan Guidry and Martina Tripcovici followed with an 8-2 victory at the third spot.
 
Graff won by identical scores at third singles, 6-2, 6-2 while doubles partner Melibeu won 6-1, 6-2 at the fifth spot.
 
Jana Luste battled out a three-set tilt with St. Joseph's Devi Jadeja, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 while teammate Carolina Zanotta went the distance at sixth singles coming out on top 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 over Hawks Lauren Roy.
 
The Highlanders will return to action on April 14 at Stony Brook.  The match is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
