PHILADELPHIA—The NJIT men's tennis team extended its win streak to seven matches Sunday with a 5-2 victory over Saint Joseph's at the SJU Tennis Complex.
NJIT, winner of its last nine out of 10 matches, improves to 16-3 on the season after sweeping the doubles contests and winning four out of six singles contests to garner to the victory. Saint Joseph's falls to 7-9 on the season.
Highlanders' pair
Petr Rousar and
Erik Artursson were 9-8 (3) winners at first doubles. Artursson followed up with a straight win victory at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-3.
NJIT's
Holger Norregaard and
Markus Schultz topped Dan Barrus and Jeff Kessler, 8-6, at second doubles. Schultz and Norregaard both won in straight sets – Schultz at first singles, 6-1, 6-2 and Norregaard at the second spot, 6-0, 6-3.
Freshmen
Andres Alban and
Jack Felich cruised to an 8-4 win at third doubles over Alex Veronis and Pierre Brondeau. Alban, competing at third singles, went the distance against Brondeau, taking the first set, 7-5, but falling in the second frame, 6-2, prevailing in the final set, 11-9, for the win.
The Highlanders will return to action on Thursday Fordham at 2pm.
