WEST POINT, NY—Visiting NJIT came away with a convincing 5-2 victory at Army Wednesday afternoon at Malek Courts.

The Highlanders won all three doubles contests and took four out of six singles contests from the Black Knights to earn the victory.

NJIT improves to 12-6 overall while the Black Knights fall to 19-6 on the season.

Highlander duo Ksenia Kuzmenko and Jana Luste were 8-4 winners at first doubles over Army's Della Taylor and Elle Taylor.  Kuzmenko, who faced a tough opponent at first singles, Jamila Paul, the reigning Patriot Player of the Year, went three sets.  Paul took the first frame 6-4, but NJIT's Kuzmenko knotted the match at 1-1, with a 7-6(3) victory in the second frame.  Paul responded with a 6-2 victory in the final set for the win.  Luste, also went three sets with Black Knights Della Taylor at fourth singles.  Luste dropped the first set, 6-4 and bounced back for a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Black Knights Margaret Lliev and Carolyn Pitman defeated NJIT's brazilian natives Natalia Melibeu and Carolina Zanotta, 8-4 victory at second doubles.  Melibeu won by identical scores at fifth singles, 6-4, 6-4 over Larranine Saavedra.

NJIT doubles pair Monika Graff and Martina Tripcovici teamed for an 8-1 victory at the third spot.  Graff, competing at second singles pulled out a three-set victory over Eva Sung.  Graff dropped the first frame, 6-1 and later came back for a 6-4, 7-5 (9-7) victory while doubles partner Tripcovici also went the distance at third singles with Pitman.  Tripcovici lost the first set, 6-4, and bounced back for a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

NJIT will return to action this weekend when the Highlanders host the 2013 National Invitation Women's Tennis Tournament which will be held at Thomas A. Edison Park in Edison, NJ. 

The Highlanders will open play against Chicago State at 9:30am on Saturday and wrap up the day against Northern Kentucky at 2pm.  The Invitation will conclude on Sunday when the Highlanders face Texas-Pan American at 10am.
