POUGHKEEPSIE, NY—The NJIT men's tennis team win streak was halted at seven Saturday evening as the Highlanders dropped a 5-2 decision at the Marist Tennis Pavilion.
The Highlanders, now 16-4 overall, came into Saturday's contest winners of the last seven matches and winners of the last nine out of 10 matches dated back to March 1, with a win over Niagara. Marist improved to 10-3 on the season.
Marist took two out of three doubles contests and won four of out six singles contests to earn the 5-2 victory.
NJIT's doubles pair
Holger Norregaard and
Markus Schultz won at second doubles, 8-3 over Marist's Trym Nagelstaf and Freddrick Bjerke.
Schultz, a freshman who joined the Highlanders in January 2013, holds a 12-match win streak in doubles competition. Markus was also the only double-winner of the day for NJIT, as he defeated Lorenzo Rossi in a three-set tilt at first singles, 6-0, 2-6, 11-9.

Andres Alban, who competed at third singles, also went three sets coming out on top, 7-5, 4-6, 10-5.
NJIT will return to action on Sunday at Stony Brook. The match is scheduled to start at 1pm.
