WEST POINT, NY—Army won its fourth consecutive match, improving to 4-1 on the season by nipping visiting NJIT, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
The match score was decided by Army's Peter Sienko and NJIT's
Petr Rousar at fourth singles, with the match knotted at 3-3.
Sienko won the first set 6-3, before Rousar took the second frame by the same score. Sienko battled for the win in the third set, pulling away for the 6-3 win.
Highlanders' double pair
Holger Norregaard and
Markus Schultz were 8-4 winners at second doubles and teammates
Andres Alban and
Fraser Croad also took Army, 8-4 at third doubles to earn the point.
NJIT's Schultz was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at second singles and Alban topped Army's Rashad Shelton, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
The Highlanders will return to action on March 1 at Niagara. The match is scheduled to start at 5pm.
