NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT women's tennis team extended its win streak to five Sunday with a convincing 6-1 victory over Lafayette at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
NJIT (9-2) swept the doubles contests and won five out of six contests in straight sets with the lone visitor point coming at sixth singles.
Senior
Nina Mayevska and sophomore
Jana Luste were 8-3 winners at first doubles for NJIT. Mayevska, competing at second singles, was a 6-2, 6-1 winner while Luste, competing at fourth singles, won 6-1, 6-0 over Lucy Bass.
Highlander pair
Ksenia Kuzmenko and
Carolina Zanotta blanked Lafayette's Bass and Liza Blank, 8-0, at the second spot. Kuzmenko won at first singles, 6-1, 6-0 over Caitlin Gordon.
At third doubles,
Monika Graff and
Martina Tripcovici were 8-1 winners over Katherine Charchalis and Austin Denesuk. Graff defeated Lafayette's Amanda Kusnierz, 6-0, 6-2 at third singles.
NJIT's
Hannelore MacDonald topped Lafayette's Blank, 6-0, 6-2.
The Highlanders, who are 7-0 at home this season, will return to action on March 9 at 6pm in The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
