ORLANDO, FL-The NJIT men's tennis team recorded a 5-2 victory over Bucknell in Florida Thursday evening. The Highlanders will face No. 18 Indiana (9-3) at 730pm.
NJIT (11-4) earned the doubles point with victories at the second and third spot. Doubles pair
Holger Norregaard and
Ike Kiro defeated Bucknell's Octavio Canibe and Scott Bernstein, 8-6. Competing at the third spot was NJIT's
Joao Tasca and Brylan, who posted an 8-2 victory past Josh Katten and Kelly Morgue.
Sophomore Norregaard, from Vedbaek, Denmark, was a straight set winner at first singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Gregg Cohenca.
Teammate Kiro went the distance at fourth singles, as Bucknell's Katten took the first frame, 6-3 but it was Kiro who bounced back in the next set, 6-4 and took the third set 7-6 (8-6) tiebreaker.
Junior
Fraser Croad also went three sets with Bucknell's Greg Maxson. Maxson won the first frame 6-3. Croad took the next to frames, 6-0, 6-2 to earn the point.
Bucknell (3-6) recorded points at second and third singles.
The Highlanders will return to action this evening against Indiana at 7:30pm.
