NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 6-1 victory over visiting Wagner Wednesday evening at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
NJIT (6-2) took all three doubles contests and won five out of six singles contests in straight sets Wednesday. The only victory for the Seahawks came at first singles in a three set tilt, which featured NJIT's
Petr Rousar and Danil Ovechkin. Ovechkin came out on top 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.
Highlander duo
Holger Norregaard and
Ike Kiro defeated Wagner's Ovechkin and David Garzon at first doubles. Kiro was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at second singles over Garzon.
Senior
Bryan Keelan and teammate
Joao Tasca came out on top 8-1 at second doubles while
Fraser Croad and
Dan Salomon were also 8-1 winners at the third spot.
Tasca posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory at third singles followed by Croad at the fourth spot, winning by identical scores, 6-0, 6-0 over Matthew Richards.
Salomon took Wagner's Taylor Santoro 6-2, 6-1 at the fifth spot while Keelan went 6-0, 6-1 at six singles.
The Highlanders will play its next three matches at The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility, first hosting Monmouth on Friday at 6pm and LaSalle on Saturday at Noon.
