NEWARK, NJ—The NJIT men's swimming team continued to break records as they took on Lehigh at the Fleisher Athletic Center on Saturday. An additional three records were smashed in the 142-63 loss (3-3), bringing the number of records broken this season to 14.
Freshman
Richard Seffrin led the way in the 1650 Freestyle, breaking the existing 2005 record by more than a minute and a half, with a time of 16:56.56 placing second.
Freshman
Brian Capozzola broke the 200 Freestyle record (1:48.08, Senior
Shawn Bryan, 2012) with a time of 1:46.86, coming in first place.
In the 400 IM, Freshman
Dennis Popov broke the old record by 10 seconds, with a swim of 4:29.65.
Other notable swims included the 200 Medley Relay, consisting of Capozzola, Freshman
Jonathan Drori, Popov, and Senior
Shawn Bryan, placing second with a time of 1:43.02.
Senior
Shawn Bryan touched out his competitors in the 50 Freestyle with a first place finish of 22.42.
The team celebrated Senior Day at the meet, recognizing the 5 graduating seniors. The Seniors include, Captain

Shawn Bryan,
Johannes Smit,
Liliette Graca, and
Nicole Tran.
Men's Swimming will be back in action down in beautiful Miami, Florida at the Florida International University on January 5, 2013.
