NEWARK, NJ—Fresh off a stunning upset of the 2011-2012 Champion College of New Jersey, the Highlanders faced the West Chester University Rams Sunday at Prudential Center.
Unfortunately, the Rams were well rested, while the Highlanders were a little sluggish after last night's game.
The shots and scoring chances were even, but the Rams scored the first two goals of the game.
NJIT tied it on a Power Play goal by
Robert Amos near the end of the first period.
The second period saw plenty of scoring opportunities, but NJIT wasn't able to capitalize, while at the other end the Rams put two more goals.
When West Chester opened the scoring in the 3rd period and extended their lead to 5-1 it was all but over. NJIT rallied for a couple but the visitors outscored them 5-2 in the 3rd period alone. Final score was 9-3.
Scoring for the Highlanders were Amos (2) and
Jason Anagnos.
Adam Finkle,
Christian Corey,
Daniel Smith and Matthew Potter all earned assists.
The Highlanders hit the road for a pair this weekend against UPenn and Kutztown.
