NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's swimming team hosted Montclair State on Monday, January 16 in the Highlander's final home swim meet of the season at the Fleisher Athletic Center.
Junior
Shawn Bryan and junior
Amy Cilento placed first and second in the 500 free with a time of 5:21.24 and 6:12.88 respectively.
The Highlanders also marked a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke by senior
Chris Early (1:07.91), sophomore Robert Kim (1:12.70) and junior
Johannes Smit (1:17.82). Early's swim marked a new lifetime best which he had broken at the previous meet located at St. Francis (NY).
Additional highlights from the meet included junior
Liliette Graca who swam a lifetime best in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:24.96.
Junior
Jonathan Van Ostenbridge swam to a second place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.80. In addition Van Ostenbridge recorded a seasonal best in the 200 freestyle placing third with a time of 2:04.60.
This meet also celebrated and bid farewell to their graduating senior,
Chris Early. Early will be graduating this spring with a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering and is a member of the NJIT Albert Dorman Honors College.
The next meet for the Highlanders will be on January 28 when they will travel to Riverdale, New York and compete against Manhattan.
