ORLANDO, FL – The NJIT men's tennis team opened its Spring Break trip edging Colgate, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon.
The Highlanders have won its last three matches and improve to 5-6 on the season.
Colgate swept the doubles contests with wins at the first and second spot. NJIT's Fraser Croad and Bryan Keelan were 8-3 winners at third doubles.
The Highlanders won at first, second and third singles.
Freshman Petr Rousar defeated Colgate's Luke Gensburg, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-3. Teammate Joao Tasca followed with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory at second singles and Ike Kiro topped Ruslan Goussiatnikov in three sets, 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-2.
Colgate's Phil Bernasek defeated Croad at fourth singles but Dan Salomon added a win at fifth singles for NJIT, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Connor Feuille.
Colgate's other point came in straight sets at the sixth spot.
The Highlanders will return to action on Thursday at 9am vs. Liberty.
