LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The NJIT women's tennis team, who has won the last five out of six matches rolled to a 6-1 victory Saturday afternoon.
NJIT won five of the six singles matches and swept the doubles contests improving to 12-9 on the season.
Nina Mayevska and Isha Toor blanked Rider's Marly Roche and Tricia Ashmore, 8-0, at first doubles. Mayevska and Toor won by identical scores at first and third singles. Mayevska won 6-1, 6-1 and Toor went 6-0, 6-0.
Ana Lidon and Anine Lovdal picked up a 8-1 win at second doubles, while Lidon and Lovdal claimed points at second and fourth singles. Lidon won 6-1, 6-0 and Lovdal went 6-0, 6-0.
Fanny Aizier and Katie DeRosa captured third doubles 8-3. Aizier won at the fifth spot, 6-1, 6-0 as Rider claimed its only point of the match a sixth singles.
The Highlanders will close out the regular season on Sunday hosting Albany at Brookdale Park in Montclair, NJ. The match will begin at Noon.
NJIT will break until May 1-2 when they travel to Grand Forks, North Dakota for the Great West Conference Women's Tennis Championships at University of North Dakota.
