WEST POINT, NY – The NJIT women's tennis team traveled to Army this past weekend to face three opponents – Providence, Marist and Army.

NJIT was edged by Providence 4-3 Saturday afternoon. NJIT's Ana Lidon was a winner at second singles 6-2, 6-4 topping Ayushi Sinha and senior Isha Toor added a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the third spot over Melanie Albert. Sophomore Anine Lovdal won by identical scores 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles for NJIT.  Nina Mayevska fell in a three-set tilt at first singles 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-1 to Providence's Marisela Aviles-Duron.

Sunday Army claimed a 6-1 victory over NJIT winning five out of six singles contests and two out of three doubles matches.  Junior Mayevska was the only singles winner for the Highlanders at the first spot, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 defeating Patricia Vollmer.  Doubles pair Lidon and Lovdal combined for an 8-2 victory at second doubles.

Marist nipped NJIT 4-3 in the final match of the evening.  Lidon and Lovdal teamed for an 8-6 win at first doubles followed by a 8-2 victory by Mayevska and Toor at the second doubles.  Lovdal captured the fourth singles match, 6-2, 6-3 and the other singles winner for NJIT was Dasa Stanimirovic at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-1.

The Highlanders will break until March 15 and travel to Boca Raton, Florida to face Columbia at 1:00pm.
