MONTCLAIR, NJ – The NJIT women's tennis team nipped Seton Hall, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Brookdale Park improving to an even 7-7 on the season.
With the match knotted at 3-3, captain Ana Lidon, a double-winner on the day, overcame a wrist injury, and recorded match-point for NJIT at second singles over Seton Hall's Elizabeth Verow 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.
NJIT earned the first point of the match taking first and second doubles. Nina Mayevska and Isha Toor topped Seton Hall's Verow and Courtney Kilarski 8-1 at the first spot while Anine Lovdal and Lidon defeated Karina Codero and Michelle Weerasinghe 8-3 at second doubles.
Seton Hall's (5-5) Denise Liebschner won in straight sets at first singles 6-3, 6-2 over Mayevska. Senior Isha Toor won 7-6, 6-1 at third singles topping Karina Codero while Dasa Stanimirovic defeated Slavina Kaplanska 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at the sixth spot.
Seton Hall won at fourth and fifth singles.
NJIT will host UMass on March 27 at 10am at Brookdale Park in Montclair, New Jersey.
