STOCKTON, CA – NJIT freshman Christian Puszies notched a match-high 18 kills but it wasn't enough as Pacific swept a non-conference men's volleyball contest Friday evening at the Alex G Spanos Center.
Pacific (7-14) hit .379 over three sets defeating the Highlanders 30-18, 32-30, and 30-18. Nikola Vukiceic led Pacific offensively with 12 kills followed by Taylor Hughes (9) and Sean Daley's and Florian Gornik's (8) kills. Setter Patrick Tunnell piled up a match-high 42 assists and Gornik led the home team defensively with seven digs.
Puszies was the only Highlander to reach double-figures in the kills' category. Freshman Kevin Van Oss had five kills. Freshman Doug Battersby hit .250 for the match (4 kills, 1 error, on 12 attempts).
Freshman Matthew Lui recorded 25 assists while classmate Brady Smith posted seven kills. Puszies recorded a match-high eight digs for the Highlanders.
NJIT will face Pacific on Saturday at 7pm.
